A stand-up roller coaster features trains with cars that are ridden in a standing position. These rides are generally very intense and often carry a higher height restriction than most roller coasters.

Notable Stand-Up Roller Coasters

• Riddler's Revenge - The tallest, fastest, and longest stand-up roller coaster in the world. It also contains the most inversions with a total of six.
• Dangai - The oldest stand up coaster, opening in 1982.
• Momonga Standing and Loop Coaster - The oldest operating stand-up ride. It opened in 1979 as a sit-down roller coaster, but it was changed into a stand-up in 1982; one day after the opening of Dangai. The ride has since been closed as of September 20, 2021.
• Georgia Scorcher - The last stand-up roller coaster to be built until Pipeline.
• Green Lantern - This standup coaster was located at Six Flags Great Adventure after being located at Kentucky Kingdom since 1997. It was the tallest, fastest, and longest stand-up coaster when it opened. Now closed and demolished as of November 2024.
• Shockwave is located at Drayton Manor. Opened in 1994, it is only one of two stand-up roller coasters in Europe, and it is the only one in the world to have a zero gravity roll. Has since been converted into a sitdown coaster.
• Pipeline: The Surf Coaster opened at Seaworld Orando in 2023. It was the first launched stand-up coaster.
