Afterburn is an inverted roller coaster located at Carowinds in Fort Mill, South Carolina.[1]
History
The ride was manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard and originally opened at the park as Top Gun: The Jet Coaster on March 20, 1999. When the licensing to the 1986 film and the name "Top Gun" was discontinued by Cedar Fair, the coaster was renamed to "Afterburn" for the 2008 season.[2]

Trains
This coaster features 2 trains with 8 cars per train. Riders are arranged 4 across in a single row in each car for a total of 32 riders per train.

This ride was featured in Insane Coaster Wars ("G-Force Giants").
